FOTD Using Smashbox In Bloom Eyeshadow Palette

This FOTD was created using my current favourite eyeshadow palette - Smashbox In Bloom. This palette has a range of pretty, easy to use shades that I find will be perfect for Summer/ Autumn.

Please ignore my hair. It's at that really awkward stage of growing the fringe out. This is probably the first post in a long while that anyone's seen my eyebrows!

Sorry for the extremely blurry shot of my products used!

Products Used:

Estee Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator
Sunplay Skin Aqua Moisture BB cream
By Terry Hyaluronic Eye Primer
Smashbox In Bloom Eye Shadow Palette
Bobbi Brown Gel Liner, Black
Estee Lauder Double Wear Mascara
Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge, Pale Pink
Bobbi brown Lip Colour Pink

To prep my skin, I used Estee Lauder's New Idealist Skintone Illuminator. It's a skincare product that is designed to perfect skintone whilst providing a subtle illuminating effect.

I've had this product for two weeks and really love it. I normally use it in the morning under my daily moisturiser and it really brightens up my skin.

I've taken a couple of holidays in the last month and though I religiously apply sunscreen, I've noticed uneven pigmentation especially around the nose area. So for this FOTD, I applied Sunplay Skin Aqua Moisture BB Cream on the notice to even out my skintone.

From the Smashbox Palette, I selected a pale rose gold shade and a moss green (top left, bottom right).

Here are swatches of the two shades:

I used the rose gold shade all over the upper lip, from the lash line to the crease. I then applied black eyeliner, and brushed the moss green shadow on top of the lash line to soften the eyeliner.

I then applied a coat of mascara to the lashes to finish of my eye-makeup.

For my lips and cheeks, I chose to go bright and pink.

I used Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Pale Pink on my cheeks, and love the subtle glow cream blushes give to the cheeks. It's a Bobbi Brown filled FOTD today as I'm using Bobbi Brown Lipstick in Pink on my lips.

Facial Highlighters: Subtle to Bold

I love highlighting my cheeks to give my face a bit more of a radiant glow. Today I'll share with you 3 of my favourite facial highlighters. Each imparts a different degree of highlight and glow.

The first one technically isn't even a highlighter. It's Bobbi Brown's Extra Soothing Balm. A skincare item, I use this on my cheeks if I'm in the mood for a dewy cheeks with very subtle glow. I love the herbal scent this product has, and it feels great and nourishing on my skin.

For a less subtle look, and a more obvious glow, I use RMS Beauty Living Luminizer. I'm a big fan of organic products, and this brand is no exception. The line uses organic, non toxic ingredients that are meant to be good for the skin. The glow from this product is still pretty subtle, and I like the radiant look it provides.

Now for the product that gives the biggest highlighting effect of the three, Nars Multiple in Copacabana. I adore this product as it highlights skin beautifully and gives an amazing pearly sheen. Now that i think about it, I haven't used this product for awhile. I must resurrect it!

Classic Rose FOTD

Here is one of my favourtie simple looks, with rosy cheeks and lips. The products used for this look are shown below:

Face:
Une Soft minerals powder foundation M03
MAC blush Pinch O' Peach

Eyes:
Max Factor false lash effect mascara
Bobbi Brown gel liner in black
MAC eye kohl in fascinating (line bottom lid)

Lips:
Bobbi Brown lip colour in Rose

Une Beauty is a new organic makeup line from the creators of Bourjois. Where possible, they use organic ingredients approved by ECOCERT, a French organic organisation. For my FOTD, I tried out their mineral foundation.

It provided nice, medium coverage and does not have a heavy, powdery feel. I also found this foundation to last pretty well throughout the day.

To finish off the look, I used my favourite MAC/Bobbi Brown blush and lip combo. I used this look for my PhD graduation a few days ago, and will post a couple of pics of it up soon.

Foundation alternative I: Bobbi brown TM review

I'm on a quest to find the perfect foundation alternative for days when I want abit of coverage on my bare skin. I've been looking heavily into tinted moisturizer and BB creams. I'll do a post and reviews about BB creams in the future, but today's post will focus on Bobbi Brown's Extra SPF25 tinted moisturizing balm.

I love anything with 'balm' in its name. Sounds comforting and almost..healing. This balm is great for dry, dehydrated skin, and I think it's especially great for winter.
thick, creamy texture
partly blended on hand
Here's a pic of my bare skin, with my dark undereye circles in its full glory (I suffer from insomnia from time to time): I find I have larger than average pores around the nose areas, which I'm trying to minimise. I also want a nice and even overall complexion.
What I look for in a foundation alternative is something which makes skin look flawless, yet feels good for the skin. Alot to ask for, I know. This TM had a thick consistency, but felt really light on the skin. I don't know how to describe the smell...maybe...herby..? It's quite a pleasant smell anyway.
On the skin, it looks super dewy. I love the moist, glow it gives my skin. However, it was almost too dewy and made my skin look shiny in areas, so I'll need apply some loose powder on my T-zone. I found the coverage extremely really sheer. Perfect for those wanting a really natural look.
All in all, I quite like it. It soothes my winter parched skin, and it's great for days when I want to look like I'm not wearing any makeup but feel my skin still needs a little coverage.

Wedding tea ceremony FOTD

My very first FOTD is the breakdown of the makeup I used for my wedding tea ceremony in KL. It's a really simple look which took me less than 10 mins to do, as I was running really late due to my hairdresser faffing around spraying my hair with shimmer

Estee Lauder Cyber White powder foundation, 01

Bobbi Brown creamy concealer, beige (had only 2 hours sleep the night before, so covered up my dark circles really well)
Bobbi Brown gel liner, black

Bobbi brown blush, pale pink & tawny (blended together with blush brush)

Lips:
Chanel aqualumiere, 94 lipari
