Wishlist: Dresses I Can't Afford

I was feeling low one night and decided to cheer myself up by looking at dresses I can't afford on shopbop.com. This had an unsurprisingly effect of making me feel even more blue as I came across some pretty cute dresses!

Allow me to share some of these with you:

Nicholas

Reem Acra

Matthew Williamson

Nanette Lepore

Robert Rodriguez

The Reem Acra dress is something I would have really loved to get married in. I chose a classic looking dress and part of me sometimes which I chose a more vintage inspired one instead.

My Recent Non Beauty Acquisitions

I've been trying to save money on beauty products so that I can have more to spend on clothes. I've so far managed to curb my spending on products and finally no longer feel guilty buying too much makeup.

The following haul was purchased over a space of a few months, and I never got round to posting about them.

First up is one of my favourite purchases this year. A sequin dress from Mango.

I love romantic, ethereal looking dresses, and I like how the sequins aren't too 'bling' on this dress. I also love the soft, ballerina feel of the skirt.

Also from Mango is this bolero.

It's sequined too, like the dress.

I got this clutch at a 50% discount from Miss Selfridge. I think it'll be great for Summer parties, especially weddings. Hopefully it'll be quite nice for winter too since it reminds me slightly of snowflakes.

I bought this black lace clutch from Accessorize.

I've always wanted a military coat, but without looking like I'm actually in the army. I can't wait til it gets colder so I can wear my new blue coat from Zara.

Banana Republic just opened a store in Manchester, and I bought this crystal belt from it.

Last but not least, I got a pair of teal velvet ballerina shoes from Topshop.

Valentine's Inspired FOTD and OOTD using Jill Stuart Blush Blossom 03

Hi everyone! Valentine's day is coming up soon, so I've done a Valentine's Inspired FOTD for the occasion! I aimed for a soft, romantic look using lots of peaches and pinks.

Products Used:

Face
Vichy Aera Mineral BB Cream
Jill Stuart Blush Blossom 03 Lady Amaryllis

Eyes
Maybelline Eye Quad in Autumn Spirit
Collection 2000 Extreme Eye Liner
Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara

Lips
Dior Lipstick in Rose Chic

I wanted soft, fluttery lashes, so I chose to use my favourite Max Factor's False Lash Effect Mascara.

I used my new Vichy BB Cream to even out my skintone. The BB cream is super sheer and light. I wanted soft, pretty peachy-pink cheeks for the romantic look. I applied my Jill Stuart Blush Blossom in 03, using the two colours blended together. I used my new Dior lipcolour in Pink Chic for pink lips.

Below is my very first Outfit of the day (OOTD). It's what I would wear to a Valentine's dinner if only the weather was nice and warm! I must apologise for the bad quality. I had my camera at the complete wrong setting! I see a lot of girl with really nice OOTD poses. In my pics, I'm just standing there, so I'm sorry for the lack of poses:
a) my full-length mirror is between my show collection and my wardrobe, so there's not much room to move
b) I really can't pose

My dress is from a small boutique in Bangsar Baru, KL which I bought last year. It has a silver-bronze detailing around the neckline, which you can see in my FOTD pics. My nude shoes are from Dune. Before I go, I want to wish you all a Happy Valentine's Day for Monday!

My Non-Beauty Holiday Haul

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share with you some of the things I bought on my recent trip to Malaysia. Surprisingly I mainly stayed away from beauty products and bought clothes instead. KL is great for shopping, I especially love their small independent brands where I tend to find cute dresses. Everything there is so much cheaper than KL, so in retrospect these were complete bargains!

First up are my shoes. I got this pair from Vincci. I love the light sea-green colour of the shoes. My sis also bought a pair!

I found these cute little shoes in an independent boutique. The boutique is in Kuching, Sarawak where my mum was born. I went there to visit my grandma and other relatives.

The heel of these wedges are quite sweet - white with a red strawberry and berries pattern.

Yes, stores in Malaysia do sell boots. The weather is definitely too hot for them in KL, but luckily the weather here in the UK is freezing. These boots are from Vincci+.

The warm furry lining of the boots also came in handy for keeping warm.

I got the next two items from another independent boutique, this time in KL. I really love the colour of this dress, I really like deep serene colours.

The dress comes with a detachable belt, which is good as I can interchange different belts for a different look.

I also got this skirt from the boutique. It's like a relaxed, flowy version of a tulip shaped skirt! This skirt was a really good bargain at ~£5.

I got the dress below from one of my fave dress stores, Eclipse. The dress has kind of an African vibe to it which I like as I don't own anything like it.

I also about this cream and gold bag from Charles and Keith.

And this top from Mango, which I would wear with a short-ish skirt and belt. Maybe I'll do an outfit post as I'm terrible at explaining!

So that's my non-beauty haul for the holiday. Beauty items that I bought include Vichy's BB cream and a couple of Chanel lip glosses from duty-free. will do a separate post on them. Hope you all have a wonderful week ahead!

asos haul - loving my new dress!

My order from asos has arrived! For some reason, I hardly ever buy from asos. But the other day, I was browsing the online shop and found a few gems. The obvious problem with clothes online shopping is that you can't try on the clothes, but I find that asos is pretty good in giving you an overview of what they look like. I especially like the fact that you can view the outfits on the catwalk.

The box below is one huge package, but sadly it was mostly packing material.

Inside was a dress I ordered. I also couldn't resist ordering some beauty products:

I loved this dress as soon as I saw it:
The dress on me. Please ignore the straps sticking out. I wasn't wearing it to go out, just trying it on and thankfully it fits! My face is cut out in this pic as I just got out of bed and am in my glasses.

Now, as this is a beauty blog, I'll proceed onto the products I also bought from asos:

I bought the Illamasqua blush in Tweak

It's highly pigmented, so I only use a tiny bit with an extremely light hand. It gives a 'just in from running in the cold' flush look to the cheeks, which I love! Here is a swatch on my cheek:
I also bought Pixi waterblush in no.1 and Pixi moisture tint gloss in no. 12

The water blush is a liquid stain that gives a rosy tint to the skin. I found that it was quite difficult to blend, and had to be extra quick when applying it. (or else I ended up with two red splotches on my cheeks)

Hand swatch of the waterblush:

The tint gloss was really thick, and quite messy to appply. Lip swatch of the tint gloss, a natural colour:

All in all, I'm really pleased with the haul, and am looking forward to wear the dress somewhere!
