New Jill Stuart Spring 2011 Haul and Swatches

Hi everyone, hope you are all having a great start to the week! Today's post is on some items I bought from the Jill Stuart Spring 2011 collection. When I saw these promotional pics of model Lindsey Wixon as well as swatches from various blogs, I couldn't not resist purchasing a few items.

The lovely Jennifer from Life and Lens of Beauty does custom purchases, and she helped me buy the following items from Hong Kong:

My favourite item of the 3 has to be the Blush Blossom in Little Anemone 06.



The colours in this blush are so pretty! I'm so glad that this isn't a limited edition, as I really love this blush. The scent is to die for...it's a beautiful sweet, floral scent that makes this blush a joy to use.


The lighter shade of this blush contains fine shimmer, which thankfully is not over the top with sparkles. It looks bright and natural one applied onto the cheeks.



I found these loose powder blushes really tricky to apply. I used to end up with powder everywhere, making a huge mess. My new trick is to use a good brush like Illamasqua's Blusher Brush to pick up powder from the netting, and using the padded part attached to the inner lid to wipe of excess powder. For some reason, I find using the Illamasqua brush causes a lot less mess than using the brush provided.

Next up is the Mix Blush in Milky Strawberry 13. The compact includes four sweet pastel shades. They can be used individually, but mixed together they give a pretty soft pink.

Lastly, I bought their newly released Lip Jewel in Catseye Wink 01. I love the beautiful packaging of this gloss!

The colour itself was not as pigmented as I had hoped, and look came out quite a light pink on my lips. The gloss is very shiney, packed with beautiful shimmer, and feels quite moisturising on the lips. I do which the coverage was not so sheer.

Valentine's Inspired FOTD and OOTD using Jill Stuart Blush Blossom 03

Hi everyone! Valentine's day is coming up soon, so I've done a Valentine's Inspired FOTD for the occasion! I aimed for a soft, romantic look using lots of peaches and pinks.

I wanted soft, fluttery lashes, so I chose to use my favourite Max Factor's False Lash Effect Mascara.

I used my new Vichy BB Cream to even out my skintone. The BB cream is super sheer and light. I wanted soft, pretty peachy-pink cheeks for the romantic look. I applied my Jill Stuart Blush Blossom in 03, using the two colours blended together. I used my new Dior lipcolour in Pink Chic for pink lips.

Below is my very first Outfit of the day (OOTD). It's what I would wear to a Valentine's dinner if only the weather was nice and warm! I must apologise for the bad quality. I had my camera at the complete wrong setting! I see a lot of girl with really nice OOTD poses. In my pics, I'm just standing there, so I'm sorry for the lack of poses:

a) my full-length mirror is between my show collection and my wardrobe, so there's not much room to move

b) I really can't pose

My dress is from a small boutique in Bangsar Baru, KL which I bought last year. It has a silver-bronze detailing around the neckline, which you can see in my FOTD pics. My nude shoes are from Dune. Before I go, I want to wish you all a Happy Valentine's Day for Monday!

Soft and Sweet FOTD with new Jill Stuart Blush Blossom

I've been using a lot of darker colours this Autumn, so I decided to do something different and do an FOTD with softer, sweeter colours. Today's FOTD makes use of a couple of Jill Stuart products, including the new JS Blossom Blush which I've just purchased and done a post on.

This is the eyeshadow palette I used. I chose the light grey and pink shade for today's FOTD

For extra pink glossy lips, I layered a pale pink lipgloss over the Bobbi Brown lip colour

Jill Stuart Blush Blossom 01 and 03

Hi everyone! I tried my very best to resist the new Jill Stuart Blush Blossoms, but completely caved in and bought two. They just look so pretty and sweet, I couldn't resist!

I bought this blush in the shades 01 Romantic Sweet Pea and 03 Lady Amaryllis from cosmede.com

They were packaged in the usual sweet pale peachy pink Jill Stuart boxes, with instructions on the back on how to use the product.

The blush comes in a beautiful case with a little white goat hair brush that is great for travelling.

According to Jill Stuart:

'Loose cheek powder to layer two colors for customised shimmer and hue. For cheeks that look like they are naturally blushing. Its light and breezy texture blends effortlessly into your skin for a flawless look. Provides long lasting, beautiful finish with clear colors accompanied by a feeling of rich moisture. Contains pure crystal powder and crystal floral bouquet fragrance.'

I've got to say that Jill Stuart is great for very sweet, romantic looking colours.

The case opens to reveal a good sized mirror, and a plastic cover to protect the powder from splling.

The other side of the plastic cover is padded to aid in tapping off excess powder from the blush. The blush itself is housed under elastic netting. Each compact contains two colours; a full colour blush and a lighter shade for highlighting. The powder has a gorgeous scent - a soft floral fragrance.

Here is a sneak peek of an FOTD using the Blossom Blush in 03 Lady Amaryllis.

The blush was a little difficult to apply at first (I made a bit of a mess), as the brush picked up lots of powder and extremely light application was required.

My Japanese Makeup Collection

As alot of us love Japanese beauty brands, I thought I'd share with you part ofmy Japanese makeup collection that I have accumulated so far.

I haven't included my Paul & Joe items in this post, and my collection has increased somewhat after my trip to asia. Above, I have a couple Jill Stuart blushes, Canmake cream blushes, RMK cheeks palette, and a Kose Esprique Precious Symphonic eye palette.

As you can see I'm a pretty big fan of blushes (especially sweet, pink colours!), but lets start with the eye palette. I got the palette in F1.

It contains 4 eye shadow shades (glittery white, peachy pink, glittery lavender & dark shimmery grey), and a pearly cream base

It comes with a suggestion of how/where to use each colour:

These colours are higly pigmented, and a bit too glittery for my taste. The colours are really pretty though, which is a shame!

Onto the blushes. I have a couple of Jill Stuart blushes in Rose Fairy 11, and Little Bouquet 09

A cheek palette with fresh and bright colours. The white highlighting powder is a bit too powdery and matt looking for my taste.

Cute looking colours that are easy to blend and really stand out on the cheeks.
